Green Belt (5th Kyu) Requirements
Quick Links: stances, punches, strikes, blocks, kicks, kata/forms, drills, self defence, sparring, optional requirements, general grading comments.
Introduction:
The student (karateka) is introduced to more sophisticated kicking and striking techniques during the orange belt training time. At same time the combinations (strikes, blocks and kicks) become more complicated. At this level, the katas at the lower belts are expected to flow more continuously from technique to technique. This prepares the student for the kung fu forms to follow. The breathing kata emphasizes proper controlled breathing during the delivery of techniques. The sensei may use this time to discuss the various types of breathing techniques and their applications.
