Blue Belt (4th Kyu) Requirements

Introduction:
While this belt level training time introduces more kung fu techniques, the student is encouraged to still focus on strong basics. The white and yellow belt katas are expected to flow smoothly with each stance and technique delivered strongly and accurately.

Recommended training time at Green before grading:
6 to 8 months – approximately 32 training hours –at the head sensei’s discretion

Sparring (Optional at the head sensei’s discretion)
Two or more, three minute continuous sparring rounds, light-contact, demonstrating control of distance between attacker / defender. Fast counter attack is expected. Combinations of kicks and punches with some spinning kick techniques.

Optional Requirements
Depending on your sensei, this requirement might include Japanese terminology, history, or general martial arts knowledge. Check with your sensei.

All gradings are dependent on the student’s attendance and attitude in class.
